Playing Catch up!!

Okay, so I had a very eventful and uneventful weekend. Let's start off with Saturday. I rode in the CrossTimbers Classic. I know, all of you local cyclists will snub this ride, but let me tell you all, it was a big deal to me!! I trained hard for this ride. I trained my friend PM for a whole year for that ride. We did it. We made it all the way through the 30miles. I don't have any idea how long it took us or what our average speed was and to be honest, I don't really care. I care about that the fact that PM finished pain free when one year ago she could hardly walk. I could not be more proud of her. That was her marathon!! I am so happy for her. Kevin also rode with us. Yay, Kev!! He totally out rode the two of us.

The thing about rallies or tours or whatever they are is that they are so completely different than a race. Like any runner would be I was baffled by the fact that the rest stops are really social breaks. They were points along the way where you get off your bike, have a snack and revel at the fact that you have made it this far. I understand, it may not be this way in a "race", nonetheless I found it fascinating. I also found it intresting that there were no mile markers, no cheering squads, and a less than motivating sign at the end to let you know that you crossed the finish line, sort of, I think. We passed a sign that said finish, but were we done at the sign or further up where people were sitting and having more snacks? And how long did it take us--no clock. I was left feeling such a wonderful sense of accomplishment and no one but my dear hubby and training friend to celebrate with. Hum...kinda let down. Are they all this way??

Anywho. Sunday morning right away was met with a severely grumpy stomach. Oh my gosh, what is going on? Oh yeah I had salad the night before. Oops. I met the group at White Rock lake to run 4. 5miles. I made it through the first 3 miles before... what the heck is going on with my stomach? I suddenly had this, must find a potty feeling, coming over me. I had Nikko with me and what do you do with your dog when you are in a Johnny on the spot puking your guts out?? Let's say this...I walked back to the car, but no before stopping a few more times along the way. Hey Susan, I now understand what you were going through all those times with an upset stomach for so many miles. How did you do it?? I managed to get to the car and get home. I started to feel a bit better so I had a PB and J sandwich on spelt. I showered and then holy cow, my stomach again!! This can't be happening, I was having such a good weekend!! In the end, I spent most of Sunday in and out of the bathroom and most of Monday asleep trying to make up for what I lost on Sunday. I lost 6 pounds. Gross!! All I had to do was feel better and lookey there I found my 6 pounds!! I am feeling better, but I still did not workout today. I had a busy day of testing and training. I chose to sleep in, just to make sure the stomach bug was gone~wink wink. I was just lazy. Tomorrow is full day of playing catch up!! Good luck with that my hotty hubby says.

250!!

I started today off with a nice and sleepy lifting session with Massoman. Let me first say, I was not paying attention to what I was doing and ended up lifting heavier than I meant to. It was nice to see some progress. I benched 65lbs for 3x17!! WOW!!! I didn't think I could lift that much. Cool!! Thanks Massoman for lifting with me!!
This evening I met the fit2train group for my first open water swim clinic. There were only 3 Irongirls and 3 coaches there. It was like I was getting private lessons. Cool!! I put on a wet suit for the first time. I was shocked that I could wear a medium. I don't think I have ever worn a medium anything, ever....hahaha!! Anywho, then we got in the water and swam back and forth between 2 coaches and the 3rd was in a kayak just in case we needed help. The coaches were about 25m apart. I found myself fighting the need to just breathe shallow and finally gave in and just started breathing hard under water. I also had to get over the fact that one I could not see underwater and two I could not tell if I was going straight or not. Once I calmed down a bit I was able to see where I was going and get my breathing under control. BTW, my arms totally crapped out. Hum, could that be because I blew them out this morning?? Oops. When all was said and done we completed like 250m or so says the coach. We weren't officially keeping track but she guestimated. I had a great time!!
What are the distances for an Olympic distance tri?

Ho hum!!

I went for a run with Massoman this morning. We ran 3 miles. I felt great, but winded near the end. We walked I think for a minute or 2, then ran in at 31:33. Not so shabby. In my sleepy fog I could not find my MP3 player so I ran sans music. Richard and I just talked and talked. It was nice. I miss the social aspect of our early morning runs. I am definitely glad to be back.
This evening Hotty Hubby and I went for a short and easy bike ride (about 10.5miles). We actually rode on a new highway that is not quite open yet.It was so cool to zoom by the traffic. We saw a couple of other cyclists playing on the new roadway too. Anywho, the jury is still out on the distance for the tri (olympic or sprint). Originally it was a sprint, but I have a conflict with that weekend. So I am in the market for another one. Which ever distance. I am quickly realizing my condition. I am really good condition. I am so shocked by this because I feel like such a slug sometimes. Is this normal??

Well I cannot believe that I am not more sore than I am. Actually, I am not sore at all!!! Well, my knee is still a bit sore but that is to be expected. I taught kickboxing this evening and felt great!! It is amazing that as in shape as I am that is still really hard!! I get winded and my legs get quivery and my lungs burn!! I can't get enough of that feeling!! I love it!! I do, I do, I do!!! Heehee!!
I can't wait to run some more!! I will run with my mini group. I hear we are running 3 miles!! I can't wait!!

5, 35, and then a whole lotta food!!

I began mother's day with a 5 mile run with the Pacers. I quickly realized that I have so much work to do!! I kept up with the group for a short bit and then my foot started hurting. I decided to walk a bit then catch up. The only problem was that the group sped up. I tried to catch up then got discouraged. So I walked some more. Hummm. Oh well. I did not run as well as I had planned, but you know...that was my first 5 mile run in 6 weeks (over really). After the run I met my friend PM for a ride. I was hoping only for about 20miles. We some how got off track and started following the wrong guides. Ooops!! I was feeling great until around 19 or so. I was tired and my legs were jelloey. (Yes, in my little world that is a word). We got so far off track that I needed to stop at a gas station to refil my water and grab a Clif Bar. Umm, that was at mile 25. OMG!!! I was tired and ready to quit. We got back onto our bikes and rode down one of the busiest backroads in FM. Of course if we had not gotten off track, we would not have had to travel down it. Long story short it was the shortest and fastest way back to the Jeep. At somepoint I got ahead of PM and she stopped. I heard from a distance her hollering at me. I turned around and thought I was coming to a stop and fell off of my bike. It wasn't on the busy street thank goodness--I'd be dead. I did however end up with a bloody knee. It is a bit sore but fine. hahaha!! When we finished I was so glad to see the Jeep!! When I got home I had my hotty hubby take a pic of my longest day on the bike. I have never been that far all at one time!! Wow!! I have some seriously dead legs and one skinned knee!!
After my long ride we, hotty hubby and I, took his parents to the Taste Addison celebration! I at Mahi Mahi tacos. I picked the good stuff out of the middle. They were yummy!! This is a pic of hotty hubby's parents!! They had a great time at the celebration!! We were listening to blues music from a local band!!

Wheww, I am tired!!

Last night I met with the Fit2Train group. A bunch of TI ers and some of us other folks. We ran 3 miles and then sat around at a picnic. I chose not eat, I am not a member yet and I feel weird about eating their food. I know, strange, but who cares. I met a few other women which are called Irongirls. I actually like that label and may steal it for myself. I am an irongirl, sort of.
RunnerSusan and I were supposed to meet for a ride this morning. We didn't. She spent the day with Kenza at school. Oh well. I really needed the sleep. I was and still am exhausted. I slept like a log. I did not even hear my hotty hubby come in last night after band. Humm.
Today I rode 16.5 miles, averaging 12.7mph. I did not eat enough, and I am still tired. I wanted to go longer, but mentally couldn't hack it. So I took a rest half way through at the lake and then rode back. It did not go as well as I had hoped but I did it.
I think it will take some time to get used to all of the training a triathalon requires. Only one week of it, minus the swimming and I am pooped!! Ha!! Oh well.

**I am training for several things right now. I want to do a triathalon this summer, and the New Mexico Marathon on Labor Day weekend.

Gotta Go eat!!! Yum!!

Ahhem:

I begin with a wonderful quote:
"Running is a big question mark that's there each and everyday. It asks you, 'Are you gonna be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?" --Peter Maher

My question mark is answered by say I am strong today. I will not be a wimp!! Hahaha!! I need to play a bit of catch up for a moment. Please forgive me I have been pretty busy changing lives (haha--training clients!!).

Tuesday evening I ran 4 miles in 46:04. Ugg. It was incredibly hot (80 something with humidity levels around 80%--Heat index of around 100 degrees). I saw this amazing thunderhead. It looked like a mushroom, but with lightening bolts lighting it up. Clear blue skies and this one big cloud. The sunset accented it really well. It was like a big strobe light. Unfortunately, it's warpath included a tornado that killed a few people. It was really neat though.

Wednesday was a very very full training day. I trained a record breaking 7 clients. I have not trained that many people in several years. I was whipped!! The Y is also refinishing the floor in our new "multipurpose room" so the whole fitness center smells really bad. I thought I was getting used to it, but maybe not. I left with the worst headache yet, since they have been remodeling. I love the changes, but geeze it is wreaking havok on my sense of smell. Nonetheless, no exercise. I went to bed really early. I almost did not make it through the end of Lost. Anyone else addicted??? What a twist last night. And I digress.

This morning I ran with Susan, Richard and his BW. BW and I ran 3 miles. I finished in 31:09 (10:24's). Not so bad. I felt great. As I was finishing I decided to push the pace a bit. I noticed that I was not running a quickly as I could have. (Garmin's are the best--her name is G mini). My G mini has changed the way I run. She is the basic Forerunner 101, but I am a woman of simplicity. Anywho, my legs were a little quivery at the very end. I did recover very quickly, which makes me think I could have pushed the distance a bit more too. I am ready, but want to be intelligent about it. I have already added a mile onto Tuesdays run. And I am meeting with a new group tonight. I thing I am going to join a training group called Fit2Train. They are a triathalon group. We will do a group run at White Rock then have a picnic. I invited my hotty hubby, but he is playing music. And oh yeah, he doesn't run. Sure wish he would, but whatever. He is riding the CrossTimbers Classic with PM and I. Yay!!! Something together!! Heeheee!! I am smiling all over!! After running this morning, I met BC for Bootcamp. It was a gentle class today, she is having low back issue. My arms are a bit tired. I don't think I will be sore.

On tap for the rest of the day. I am going for a short ride this morning and then I am riding to work (all in all around 25-30 miles--oh I guess that is not really short). I have some tests to run then a ride home. I will meet the Fit2Train group this evening. After all of that I think I might rest!!

Friday morning Susan and I are meeting for a ride. Yay!!

So I will continue my day and not be a wimp. I am a strong runner and athlete. Heehee!!

Happy Monday!!

Ahhhh, back to a semi normal week!! Richard and I lifted this morning. I had a few clients, ran a test, and training a few more clients, and taught a kickboxing class. I love it!!! I am achey and tired, and happy!!
BTW, the vegetarian diet has been going really well. I had trouble tonight. My family ate a Dickey's (a BBQ place). The veggies are wilted and dead!! Sad really. I am putting forth great effort however. It is definitely hard to do!! I will conquer it.

Susan, I just saw you comment. I am sorry. I want to run sometime soon!! I want to chat with you about Feet in Motion.

Gotta go!!! Blog on friends!!

What a fantabulous fitness day!!

This evening I met with my walking friend JM. She is training for the 3 day walk in October. Today we walked 6.15miles (16:54min/mile). Woohoo!! She had never walked that far before. We talked about what to wear or not wear in the Texas heat. Hahaha!! She wore pants today and got very hot. She made it though, humidity and all. It was a great walk. After walking, I kept to my goal of 3 miles. I completed it on the dreadmill in 30:15. Not so shabby!!! I burned roughly 389+774cal=1163cal. today.

I am well on my way to a vegetarian style diet. I am cutting out chicken if I can. I am trying because I think I was having a weird reaction to the chemicals in the chicken Kevin and I bought last week. Yuck!! I have been chicken free for about a week, and I am feeling better. My current protein sources include soy protein, rice protein, beans, and fish. We will see how that goes!! I will keep at it.

It is late and I want sleep!!! Perhaps I will get some good rest before the storms roll in.

More postings?? Sure why not!!

We have a decision: September 4th (New Mexico Marathon over Labor Day weekend!!). I am so glad to be back!! I need to run today and ride. A 3 mile run on taps and 13 miles on the bike (maybe more, although I am a bit sluggish today). Thanks for all of the support!! You guys are wonderful friends to me!! Susan, I may not be ready for a bit longer. I am only running 3 miles at a time. However, I was most impressed that I averaged 10:14's after 6 weeks of absolutely no running!! I may catch back up with you in no time after all! Hahaha!!
