Here's the news!!

We are Iron Girls!! This is a pic of some of my teammates from my tri group. We had sooooo much fun!! The one on the end did not actually get to complete the tri on account of a cycling accident. We missed her out on the course.
The swim was great. I finished in just over 14 minutes. That was fast for me. It was nice and cool outside on Sunday morning. The water was warm but the air was cold getting out.
Feeling refreshed I transitioned slow, but felt quick (2 minutes) to get on my bike. Unfortunately someone knocked my helmet off my bike and broke the viser. That is why it looks weird. Anyway, I pushed as quickly as I could through the 12.76mile ride. I finished in an unbelievable 43 minutes (something like 17mph). Let me tell you all this, I HAVE NEVER RIDEN THAT FAST, EVER!! I felt great but was getting hot. I had so much fun going that fast. At one point, I was going so fast I was afraid to take my hands off the handle bars.
I walked the first half of the 5K because my legs were noodley. Yes, that is a word~a very scientific word. Hahaha. Anyway, because it was getting warm and I had not practiced enough brick workouts I needed extra time to adapt to the transition. I was so happy to cross that finish line. I felt amazing. I was excited that I had actually completed it. My first tri!! In all I finished in 1:48:49. I was faster than I had predicted. I told my family it would likely take about 2 hours. I really had no idea how long it would take me.
My family had so much fun. Hotty hubby, my mom and dad were all present and accounted for. They said that they could totally tell just how much fun I was having because everytime they saw me I had the biggest smile on my face. They also had a great time. My mom mentioned that the environment of a tri was more relaxed than that of a marathon. We all had a ton of fun. I am definitely addicted!!

Ohhhhh, my back is killing me with all of this pressure and guilt!!

Okay, I was supposed to go to the track party this morning at 5:30am and I chose not to go. I called RunnerSusan at 5:30 to tell her to relay that I would be sleeping an extra hour and then I'd head off to the trails. I needed to get in 18-20miles today. I figured trails then a dip in the lake~what a morning. Too bad I decided to torture my hotty hubby with a like 2 hour snooze session. I felt really bad for about 30seconds. Hahaha. I did not get up until 8am. What is my major lack of motivation problem. I feel uninspired to run today. Swim?? I am up for it. Ride??? I am up for it. Run??? No way!! Could it be the oppressive heat? Overtraining? Overwhelmed by this weekend and the high mileage? Likely a combo of it all!! I am looking at my calander and am stumped by when I can get this mileage in. Perhaps on Thursday. The only problem....recovery. Thursday to Sunday~would this be enough recovery? It will have to be.
Hey Massoman, I have been thinking about the answer to your question. I think bleachers would be a suitable switch for lunges and squats, the only prob...bleachers are a form of Plyos. Becareful and give yourself time for recovery. Haha, listen to me....do as I say not as I do!!! You may consider cutting back on mileage the day of and after for rest's sake. What a calorie blasting workout!! Following in the footsteps of Fireman Ken huh??? Way to go!! Sorry for being such a slacker!!

6 days, 5 minutes, and 49 seconds left!!

Alright guys that is all I have left before my very first tri!!! Yippeeeee!!! I am well prepared and so incredibly excited!!! Over the weekend, the Irongirls spent some time getting to know the course. WOW!! Not wow as in it is the most incredible place ever but, wow as in this is really here....I am really going to do this!! I am so fired up!! My family is coming in and my hotty hubby is going to be there!! My workouts this weekend were light. We rode the course and ran the course in Las Colinas on Saturday. I actually hung with the lead group on the cycling portion, right up until I had to make a pit stop. Luckily there was filling station along the course near the end I was able to stop at. I was shocked that I was able to hang with that group!! I think we were averaging 14-16mph. Yes!!!! It is great what a good bike will do for you!! Also, the Irongirls noticed that I got a new bike. That was cool!! They had only seen my old bike once or twice!! I was glowing inside that they noticed!! Anyway the running part was way hot and I was afraid of pushing too hard without anyone there so I walked half the course. I must say, there is not much shade. It will be miserable!! We will make it though and we will do great!! Yesterday, hotty hubby, PM, and I went for a short and easy ride. We pushed the pace a bit and I think it upset hotty hubby. We finished our regular route in a minute quicker than last time. Hotty hubby rides a MTB with big knobbies, so he has a hard time keeping up. We spent time yesterday talking and looking for some different tires for his bike. He will feel better when we get those on. I have to jet off to work, so I will check in with you all later!!

Not much going on...

Monday was a recovery day. That meant no exercise. And that was that.
Tuesday I ran 5 miles in 52:50. After training clients I swam. I went to the gym and swam about a mile~just under. I actually did not sleep well last night, so I am groggy today. I had figured that I would have slept better after a swim, but I guess not. Today I procrastinated myself into a run only day. I was supposed to swim again, but I just did not get it done. Oh well. I did however ran off some anxiety over my Dr.'s appointment on the 24th. Those close to me know which Doc I am going to see. I will fill the rest of you in later. Let's just say this is something I have avoided for a really long time. I ran my scheduled 5 miles. I watched "So you think you can dance." Pretty good show. I enjoyed it. I finished in 58 something. I just wanted to run off anxiety. I was pretty successful. Tomorrow is 13 miles. I think I will run half with the tri group and the other half on the trails. I could use some change. Heehee. I am also overdue for another swim. I would like to get it in after training some clients.
I am tired for now and Lost reruns are on, so I should go.

It's all about strategy, right??

Let me fill you all in. Yesterday was a big workout day!!! I started off with a 5 mile dreadmill run (52:30). I trained a few clients then went home to rest. I still had a brick workout ahead of me. This for all who don't know is a bike with a run immediately following the bike. I rode the spin bike for 1 hour then beat the rain and ran 3 miles. I was pooped!!
This morning I ran my long run (18 miles). I got up early and went to WR lake and made one loop (9.2miles) then went to the Jeep to refill water and Hammer gel. I finished up as quickly as possible--only it was at a snails pace. I averaged 15 minute miles. I am left feeling irritated and sore!! So one, marathena, is left to ponder what it will take to shave approximately 3 minutes per mile off her time in let's say 8 weeks??? Will it be enough to just lay off the other training?? By other training I am refering to the swimming and biking, brick workouts and duathlons??? The simple answer would be a loud YES!!!! Ummm, with that said I also did a swim workout tonight with the Irongirls. I am way tired!! My right hip is bugging me a bit. I am not sure if I need an adjustment or rest or what. Probably both. I will have to make an appointment with Dr. Voodoo. It has been awhile any way. I gotta go!!

Happy 4th Y'all!!

I want to say happy Independence Day to all of yall out there!! It is rainy here in Tejas. I hope we will get to see some fireworks this evening.
Last night I met the Irongirls for a swim workout at the PC. It is this swanky club only the most beautiful people in Dallas get to workout in. Thank goodness, I am one of those people. Hahahaha!!! How disgusting. Heehee!! It was a great workout. I have been feeling like a slug lately, so it was a good motivator!!This morning was the Flagpole 8K. It was pleasantly cloudy and a touch cooler than last year. It was a small race/run consisting of only about 200 people. I finished in just over an hour. I averaged 12:08's. Slower than I wanted but still under 13's. Glad to have it done. I am anxiously awaiting an 18mile run, 27 mile ride and a short duathlon. What a busy week ahead!! Enjoy the fireworks yall!!

What a great day!!

I need to catch up. I must warn you all though, I am back to my normal happy go lucky, perpetually positive self. Thank goodness. All of those deep thoughts are a bit overwhelming. I agree with Robtherunner though about his comment on my last post. I don't think that the running is my purose so to speak but it is the relationships that I build through running that might the right path. Anyway, I digress.
Friday
Open water swim. I did not feel that great in the water. I struggled the whole 500m. The water was great, no huge waves. I did it only once.
Saturday
Mock Tri. I had a crappy night's sleep. Woke up around 4:15am and could not go back to sleep. I finally got up around 6:00am and got ready to go meet the Irongirls. I went down stairs to load up my bike and forgot Nikko's crate was still in the Jeep. It is usually hotty hubby's job to take the crate out. Anyway, since it was 6:30am (by now) and he was asleep I made a valient effort to get it out when I sliced my finger open. I remember thinking, "yeah, this is a great way to start the day!!" Blood running down my hand, I was furious and still very tired. I got the crate out and ran upstairs to clean my hands up. I was awake and ready to go. I was not about to let this get in the way. I finally hit the road around 7:00. We had a transition clinic for the first hour. I had no idea how technical this was. Everything has to be stacked a certain way and in such a small place. Oh, and your bikes have to be lined up a certain way. Also something I did not even think about. Finally around 9am we started our mock tri. We started with a swim. That was interesting because this was the first time we had a "start". We all lined up and then took off swimming. I can tell you that the middle of the pack is not where I wanted to be. It freaked me out a bit when I kept getting kicked and hit, but I just slowed down and did the breastroke until I was able to calm down. Finally when everyone sort spread apart, I was able to pick back up with the swim. It only took me 14 minutes. (This might be really slow for some of you, but remember this is my first tri--I am a bit anxious.) We got out and ran to our bikes. I took a little longer than I wanted to wash off my feet and get my shoes on. I was off quickly though. We rode this 11 mile route. I think it took me just under an hour. I kept getting lost (missing arrows and such). I did not print the directions because I was under the impression that we'd all be together. I figured I'd just follow everyone....wrong!!! I was by myself for awhile, but at one point I heard someone screaming out. I looked back only to find I was off course. Our coach sort of floated around between riders to try to keep us on track. He'd give me directions and I would forget them before he was finished telling me. I just kept getting lost. A lot of stopping and turning around. I don't think I rode as well as I could have. Also, I was getting pretty hot. I wore my black tri shorts and a black sport bra. Bad move!! Even though I was half naked, black is still not a good choice. I figured since I was wearing very little color would not matter. I am changing my opinion. Anywho. By the time I was finished with the swim and bike it was 10:30 or so. I am telling you, it was hot hot hot!!! I opted out for the run. There was no shade and one big hill. I am wondering if it was the black, the heat, not enough sleep, cramps, not enough fuel or food the night before that caused me to crap out. One other Irongirl skipped the run as well. I was left feeling proud, guilty and freaked out. I was proud that the swim felt easier than the bike (usually the easiest for me). Guilty for skipping the run. Freaked out about how I am going to make it through the triathlon. This is the first time I am second guessing myself. I hope I will be fine. I have made some adjustments to my trianing to get me out in the heat a bit more. I have registered for an 8k on Tuesday morning, 27mile ride/rally on Saturday and a short Duathlon on Sunday (2mile run/9.6mile ride/2mile run). I am forcing myself to get acclimated. I have also invested in trying a few electrolite mixes. Heed, ELoad, and Endurolytes (caplets). I have tried Heed before and wasn't crazy about it. Never tried Eload. I have tried the Endurolyte powder but also, wasn't crazy about it. I tried the Hammer products during running but again wasn't crazy about them. I am curious about how they sit on the bike.
Today
My friend PM, Hotty hubby and myself rode 18.2miles this morning. It was gorgeous. There was nice breeze. We met at 8:00 and rode to the Gaylord Texan. That is always a nice ride. Hotty hubby struggled a bit. He is feeling under the weather (sore throat, runny nose and he says his lungs burn a bit). I am wondering if it is allergies?? Likely. Anyway we finished in 1hour 19 minutes and 37 seconds. My G mini said 13.7mph, PM's computer said 13.8mph. I did try out a new bike this morning and loved it!!! It is older and way modified so to tell you what kind it is would not be of much help. It is a lot lighter and smoother than mine (which is in the shop being worked on). I might invest in it. I don't even feel like I worked out today. Legs are great, back isn't sore anymore and cramps are gone (for the most part). I only wish I could have done the mini tri today instead of yesterday. I feel so much better. Oh, just for my own sake of journaling, I must review the bra I tried out. I wore a yellow and white New Balance bra with clasps and mesh on the back. I have a red and black one already but remember I am trying to avoid black. I like it. It came as a recommendation from a sponsored triathlete. I did notice a difference in temperature. So that was helpful. The only thing I was not crazy about was the cleavage factor. I am a fairly modest woman and don't want all of my goods just hanging about. The other thing I was worried about was the see through factor. When it gets wet, will it be see through? This reminds me of a Friends episode wear Monica is singing on a stage in a bar full of men. They are just cheering her on and on so she stays up there. Chandler walks in and sees her on stage and immediately runs up to there too. He starts standing in front of her and getting in the way. Monica starts to get really mad because everyone is still cheering her on. Finally Chandler tells her why they are all actually cheering for her. Her shirt and bra are totally see through and she has been showing her "headlights" to a whole bar full of men. That is really why they were cheering her on. She was humiliated and ran off the stage. Let's just say I am not looking for that kind of adventure. Hahaha!!!

Intresting thoughts for the day

I have been reading this book called: If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat. It is by Robert Ortberg. It is very interesting. The topic of the book is finding purpose in your life and discovering what it is that God has called you to do. I suppose I am craving a bit of reality today. Hmm. Anyway, I have spent the last 2 years or so trying to figure out what my purpose in life is. I am not depressed, sucidal, or insane. I just am curious if what I am doing right now with my life is what God intended me to do. I think so, but am I? I think about my passions~running, fitness, relationships, physical challenges, the myth of limitations. Are these gifts from God or are they imposed passions that I have forced to fit into what I think my life should be. Some of you out there may be thinking; whoa Marathena this is so deep. I tried to warn you all I am in a bit of a philosophical mood today. I am left wondering if running, training, and triathloning is my calling. And if it is then what about testing patients? How does this fit in? I suppose through the fitness and health aspect, but it is not something I enjoy and wake up excited to do every couple of days. In this book, the author talks about how sometimes your calling is not something you love or are even good at. Does this fit that category? I am over reaching I am sure. I have no intentions of changing or overhauling my lifestyle or job situation. I am merely questioning my reality. I actually take much pride, joy and fulfillment in what I do every day. Even if I complain about how tired and worn out I may be.
Here are somethings that have triggered these thoughts:
Peter answered him, "Lord if it is you, command me to come to you on the water. " He said, "Come". Matthew 14:28-29.
"The line between 'Thou shalt not be afraid' and 'Thou shalt not be rediculous' is often a fine one and not easily located. Knowing when to get out of the boat and take a risk does not only demand courage; it also demands the wisdom to ask the right questions, the discernment to recognize the voice of the Master, and the patience to wait for is command."

I think this is particularly intresting because I have been told or asked if I am being rediculous about running. Is running 26.2miles or further for some of you rediculous? Or is it what we are called to do? When we bump up against failure is this some sign that we have missed a turn or have been misguided? Hummm....What are we afraid of? Failure? Isn't failure a big part of growth and maturity? Wow, these thoughts are shocking to even myself. If running is truely my passion, gift, my calling; then my excitement over conquering 12 miles could be explained.

As Arthur Miller says, "It's the lifeblood of a person, the song that her heart longs to sing, the race that his legs were born to run...There's an electricity associated with giftedness. Give a person the chance, and he will jolt you."

Wow. I can only hope that I have that kind of impact on the people I work, train, and run with.

Psalm 19
In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.

"I love to think of the strong man--a champion, some translations put it--exulting in the race. He knows he's going to be taxed and stretched; he knows it will take everything he's got. But he loves the race. He relishes the challenge. He competes, not for the trophy at the end, but for the love of the game."

If you are truely compelled to run the race as I am, then this strikes you at the very core of your spiritual being. I know for sure the first time I read it, it struck me that way. As I sit reading it to my hotty hubby tears start flowing from my eyes. Why? I guess you could say I am an emotional being.

"I am convinced that if I face up to acknowledging the limitations that pain me most, there is enormous freedom and joy on the other side."

Jesus put it like this: You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of world. Others have come before you. Others will come after you. But this is your day. You are on a mission from God.

How is your mission going? Are you on the right path? Are physical rewards clouding your path? I am on a mission. Are you??

Headed in the right direction, I think.

I can't believe it has been almost a week since I've blogged. Hmmm.
Monday:
I lifted with my friend Massoman and swam. I was a bit sore from lifting. True confession of a slacker in that area I suppose. My swim could not have been better. I am working so hard in the pool. I completed a big ladder, again. 4 x 50m, 1 x 100, 1 x 200, 1 x 300, 1 x 400, 1 x 300, 1 x 200, 1 x 100, and 4 x 50 cool down. I was a bit sunburned and am showing the true summer badge of training (cycle short line and a swim cap line). That is so hot!!! Hahahaha! Not to mention the ultra sexy sunglasses/goggle eyes.
Tuesday:
I instated a bigger track party. There were 5 of us (BC, JM, Massoman, his BW, and myself~runnersusan slept in and called later to tell me she was sorry she didn't make it). It was a gorgeous morning in FM Tejas. I think it was like 65-67degrees with very little humidity. Fabulous!! My job was to run a 1 mile warm up (12minute mile), 4 x 800 (3:40, 3:40, 4:00, 4:03~smokin' fast!!!) and a 1 mile cool down (12:30). Oh and I was supposed to walk/job 400m between each 800. Since it was so beautiful outside I decided to add this track work onto a long run for the week. I know, or should I say realize, that this is in some way cheating, but I did it anyway. I left the track and headed over to the trails at the Y. I completed half of it (4.75 miles) to round out 10.75 miles in 2:20. I headed home, worried that I had not heard from hotty hubby and checked in. Only he wasn't home. Apparently he and Nikko were out enjoying the unseasonably cool morning. I ran to the fitness center determined to get 12-15 miles in. I jumped on the treadmill to completed 1.25 miles (14minutes). I decided I was done. I did 12 miles in 2:34 (this includes the superfast track workout). I am okay with that.
Wednesday:
Hotty hubby and I went for a bike ride last night. Another fantastic evening. The last 3 have been so pretty and cool. Maybe not cool, but not humid I guess I should say. We rode our usual loop in Coppell. (10miles). I had picked up a movie to watch while spending my time on the spin bike so when we got back I still owed 30mintes of riding. So we popped in the movie (Failure to Launch~kind of corny but still good) and I topped off the ride. Wooohooo!! I have not missed a workout yet.
Today:
At the risk of sounding like a slacker~haha~I slept in instead of getting up and heading over to WR lake to run with the group. We are supposed to run for a total of 40-50minutes with pick ups in the middle. (Warm up 10 minutes, pick up for 3, slower for 2--repeat 5 times and then a 10 cool down). I wanted to go with the group to ensure I would not crap out or slack off. I have to make the very best of these shorter runs if I have any hope to PR in NM. Whoa, too many abreviations. Hahaha. Oh well, I am let to my own demise.

A blast from the past and sweet stress relief!!

Well, I am back from my HS reunion. It was a good time. We kicked off the weekend with a music fest and then a breakfast with a tour. We walked around our newly remodeled high school and talked about how none of us knew where the cafeteria is or was. Hahaha. Saturday night concluded the reunion with a relaxed cocktail party. There were a ton more people there than I thought there would be. I saw some people I was really excited to see and others I couldn't quite remember and others still that I just hadn't thought of since I left high school. I learned that some of my "friends" are now getting ready to be doctors, are dentists, moms, speech pathologists, lawyers, PR people, and a super talented singer headed off to Italy for a few years to perfect her talent even more. It was a nice party. I am however incredibly blessed with my life here. I love my friends and my life here. The reunion reminded me in such a bold face way that I had in fact grown up and out of my insecurities. I am no longer that person that wants to be in the "in crowd". I don't care to put that much effort into all of my relationships. If you like me and we are friends, that is so wonderful. If you don't like me, okay we can move on. I am no longer going to try to make you like me. I will let you go. To pass over a friend because there might be someone else of greater status to talk to is wrong and I won't be a part of that any more. I left that bad habit when I left home. I revisited that this weekend. Or should I say that revisited me this weekend. I will leave it like that.
Today we rushed back so that I could get in an extra open water opportunity. The Irongirls were meeting for some extra practice. It was so great to see so many of us all in one place. We all practiced going out to the buoy and back (400m). I struggled all the way out--the waves were huge!!! Once I got turned around and headed back I felt better but still struggled. Once we all got back to standing the coach said anyone want to try it again? I think everyone said yes and away we went. Round 2. It just go harder. I made it though and got back. Only this time I was more relaxed on the way back. It was great. By the time I was finished, I was shakey and tired. But oh my goodness I felt great and so relieved from a tough weekend. I swam 800m today in a lake, with huge waves!! Wow!!

About the 11 miles on Friday--I ended up walking most of it due to some seriously sore legs. I think maybe I ran about the first 3 miles then hoofed the rest. I actually only completed 8.5 to be honest. I ran out of time. Too slow!! I had not felt that stiff and sore since Chi town marathon. I felt better by Saturday and not sore at all today. So a frustrating and very difficult (mentally) 8.5miles but it is done.

Blog on friends!!
Oh:
PS: Welcome to my blog everyone who has just joined in. (I learned that several people I graduated with from HS have actually been reading my blog!!) So again--welcome. Stay as long as you like.

Thanks for the support everyone!!

You guys rock!! Thanks for the support. I know that when I have a bad day you all will be there to give me constant encouragement! Isn't that what we are blogging for anyway??
I have had a great couple of days as far as my workouts go. Yesterday I ran 4 miles in 50 minutes (12:30's). Not too bad. If I haven't said this already I realize that I will sacrifice speed for frequency of workouts. I am okay with anything faster than 13 minute miles!! I ended my evening with a swim. It was fantastic!! I am increasing my distance everytime I get in the water. I did a mini ladder (100m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 100m cool down). I was very tired after finishing. Last night I did a larger ladder (100m, 200, 300, 400m, 500m, 600m, 100 cool down). I felt like I could have kept going on the 600m, but I ran out of time.
Today I helped my sis pack up and move away. I am totally crushed. To the point of tears. Tears are reserved for the privacy of my home, yet I find myself welling up in front of my future bro in law, and on the way home from work. I want her to be happy and she was not while she was living here. She is moving, or should I say on her way, to St. Louis. Sad. Hmmmm.......
I did not workout because tomorrow I am going to get that 11 mile long run in. After work, I am off to OKC for my high school reunion. Should be fun. I will give a full report when I get back!! Have a great weekend all!!

Dead Legs!!

So I did not make it 11 miles on the dreadmill. I did make 4 though. I went over to WR lake after my bike class to finish out another 3. I rounded out my daily mileage to 7 averaging 11:10min/miles. Not as great as I had hoped but it will do. Remember anything faster than 13's will suffice. I woke up this morning ready for another speedy track workout. I met my usual buddies at the local track to get some work done. I was scheduled for 1 mile warm up, 2 x 400, 2 x 800, 2 x 400 and 1 mile cool down. I only made it through the first half of the workout. I am wondering now that I am looking back could I have plogged through the rest?? Perhaps, perhaps not. For my 400's I felt weak and super slow. My times (1:44 and 1:44) did not really show it. I immediately started feeling a bit crappy after this. My legs stiffened the shortness of breath came over me. My arms were super quivery and I felt like I could just fall asleep right there on the track. I sat down, drank some water and got my bearings. When I felt better I got up to make an attempt at the first 800. I started it and stopped. I walked a 400. After getting back around I started my 800 with the thought of I will not stop and just do it, even if it doesn't feel good. I will do it. I did (4:21). That was it. Now I was really sleepy. I sat down and got a bit dizzy. Perhaps I should have kept standing. Oh well. I stood up and my legs were way stiff. I walked to get my water and then started down the track walking. I went to some bleachers and sat down. I nearly fell asleep. My head drooped, I was breathing very hard, and my body shook. I decided that that was not the place to take a nap. I got up and ended up walking 1 mile to "cool down". I continued to struggle with my breathing and stiffness until I got home and layed down. Massoman hinted at the fact that I am on the verge of over training since I had just run 7 yesterday. Maybe he's right. This was the usual hot weather feeling though. Dizziness, sleepy, breathless, and stiff. The humidity was way high here and it felt significantly warmer. The temp was 73degrees. Hummmmmm......this will get better I hope. I am scheduled for a swim this evening and I think I will take it easy!! I will get it done, but slow and steady.

A fun weekend of travel!!

I am in my 2nd weekend out of 3 to travel. This weekend we went to Austin for a bridal shower for my sis. It was big fun!! I was a bit frustrated because my parents popped in and I missed my open water swim on Friday. That was the whole point of staying in town until Saturday morning. Anyway, I rode my new spin bike for 2 hours as the schedule instructed. It actually said to ride for 2 hours, I am assuming it really meant ride 2 hours outside but oh well. I did ride, my legs were fatigued and I think that was the point! Today I am going for an 11 mile dreadmill run and a swim in the pool. This evening I will be going for a bike maintainence class. I am excited about that. I need to know how to change a tire and so on when I am on the road. Tomorrow invites more workouts!! I will go for now. I will report on the dreadmill run and swim later.

A fun weekend of travel!!

I am in my 2nd weekend out of 3 to travel. This weekend we went to Austin for a bridal shower for my sis. It was big fun!! Anyway, I rode my new spin bike for 2 hours as the schedule instructed. It actually said to ride for 2 hours, I am assuming it really meant ride 2 hours outside but oh well. A hot dog and a lot of catch up!!

I have had such a busy training week. Not to mention watching the MAVS!! Wednesday I rode the spin bike at the Y for 1 hour. I was 30 minutes short of my goal but I got it done. This morning I had a track party with Massoman and his BW. My job was to run a 1 mile warm up, then 3 x 1 mile repeats that were broken up by 400's (1st was all out;1:38, 1:44, 1:44, 2nd a slight bit slower; 1:48, 1:52, 1:48, 3rd easy; did not time them, and 4th walk) and cool down with 1 mile easy. Each of the 400's were seperated by 30s to1min rest. I bookended the day with a bit of a swim lesson from my friend PM. She did some coaching some time ago and offered to help. I am thankful. She helped quite a bit. I ended up doing an undetermined number of 25m's (just to get my form down a little better), then a ladder. I started with 50, 100, 125, 100(missed a step), 150, 125, 100, 75, 50 then 2 x 25 cool down. I am pooped and the MAVS are down by a lot. Grrrr!! They will come back!!

The hot dog reference might only make sense to a few people. I will briefly fill you in. You see I only sweat on one side of my body. Therefore I am likely not able to regulate temperature very well. This is something I have dealt with for 4 years now. Only it seems in the last two summers it has gotten intolerable. Since it has been so freakin hot here and the pollution has been really bad I have been short of breath. My husband made an analogy last week during my mental and physiological meltdown that perhaps my shortness of breath is my body's reaction to its inability to cool correctly. Like a dog. He meant no offense although at the time it was totally not funny. He was just trying to make me feel better. He succeeded in making me feel better and convinced me to go back to a neurologist. I will hold steady to my promise. I know this makes my dear friends runnersusan and massoman feel better. I talked about going last summer but because of my own fears and denial I did not go. I have come to the conclusion that alienating myself from my friends because they run at 6:30 instead of 5:00am is no longer acceptable. I am determined to get to the bottom of all of this mess. I will not go into all the issues right now, but I am sure if you really wanted you could go back into the archives from last summer and see a trend. It is all related from the stiffness of the legs to the inabilty to make progress as far as speed and distance. I won't go into it all right now.

I will say this, just before my meltdown I ran a 1 mile PR (8:04). Yippeeee!!! I think this gave me confidence going into my cool weather run in PA!!!

It's chilly in Indiana, PA

I have been out of town the last few days. We have traveled to Indiana, PA for a family reunion. It was heavenly cold--or chilly. I only got to run one day, but it was a wonderful run. It was blissfully clean, quiet and cool. We started off with 55degrees and ended with about 57degrees. It was fantabulous!!
I will blog more on this later. I also have really fun pics from the trip I will share with you all!! Right now the MAVS are playing and I am a tad bit distracted. I must root for my team!!!

400m, 5K, 14miles and 9more

Okay let's start with Friday. I went to the open water swim clinic at the lake with the irongirls. I was presented with a challenge. Do you want to swim to the buoy and back--says my coach? I responded by saying how far is it? About 200m. So out and back is a 400? Yep. Wanna try it? Okay why not. So I started off by myself. I got about 1/3 of the way out and then thought to myself, I am going back. So I did. I struggled back. We tooled around near the shore when another coach said, anyone else want to try it. I was determined to make it to that buoy. I wanted to go for it. I did and she followed. Along with another irongirl we set out for a buoy. We stopped half way to re assess the situation. We decided to procede. At this point I was starting to struggle. How could this be? I have been working so hard in the pool. Anyway, we made it to the turn around spot. The infamous buoy. I hung onto that thing for dear life. I actually sunk it a bit. The coach quickly said to get off of it, other swimmers are siting it. Oops, okay. I won't lie to you all, it was ugly. I made it back to the shore, but not before I reached a state of panic and terror. Not so much that I would drown but that I would be able to catch my breath enough to swim back. I spent more time treading than swimming. I need more practice. I left the swim clinic a bit frustrated but boosted as well. I mean I have been working really hard in the pool and you totally could not even tell. I guess I need more practice. The really great thing about it is that I made it. Swimming unlike cycling or running you don't get a break. Even when you stop swimming you still have to tread, work. With running you can slow down and walk, cycling you coast, swimming you tread--not quite the same kind of break. Hum. I made it, and that is what counts.
Saturday morning Massoman's BW and I participated in the Race for the Cure. OMG was it crowded. There were a ton of strollers and baby joggers. I realize that they are welcome, but they did not line up where they were supposed to. We got to the race a tad on the late side, but I am not sure I would have wanted to get there much earlier. BW needed to pick up her race chip and number so we waited in line and then lined up to start the race. We stood at the start line for nearly 30 minutes before starting. Talk about some hot and grumpy people. Why they delayed the start is unknown, but I will tell you that 30 minutes makes a difference in temperature. Finally we got started around 9:00 (supposed to have been 8:30). BW and I started with 3:1's. We ended up just running as long as BW could go and then walking a bit. It was tough to pace. She did a wonderful job!! We finished in 38:50. Wooohooo!! It was her first 5K. I think she is inspired to try another one, but wants to shave some more time off her pace first. I would be glad to run with her again. I had a great time.
After the race I was still scheduled for a 1.5-2 hour ride. Hotty hubby and I went after a short rest. It was hot, and I had the worst attitude. I really did not want to go. I'm glad he made me go though. I did get pretty sunburned. Hohum. We got in 14 miles in just under 1.5hours (slow!!)
Sunday
This morning I got up early to run 9 miles. I traveled to White Rock lake to meet up with the irongirls. I was way early, but did not mind because they were only going 3-6 and I needed 9 to stay on track for the marathon. I did an out and back in hopes to run into some of them on the way back when I was I tired. It worked. By mile 8 I was ready to quit. Just as I was about to take a break, I heard from behind me:
"Pick it up girl, don't quit." I whipped my head around and was greatful to see my training buddies. They were on their way back. They asked how much further I had and told me that they'd carry me back. Thank goodness they did. I was so ready to just walk the last mile. I finished running 12:30's. I made my goal. I wanted to be faster than 13 min/miles. I made it. Next long run, I'd like 12's. We'll see. I will just take it one step at a time.

My heart and thoughts go to those finishing up the San Diego Marathon today!! Way to go guys!!

Feeling Strong

Tonight was a swim workout with the irongirls. It was big fun. We worked on technique and endurance. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do the mini ladder with no problem. Compared to last night's workout, this one was a breeze. It would seem that I am pushing myself harder than the coaches in the group are pushing me. No shock there. I am so tough on myself. I am hard competition (the coaches vs myself). I was glad they were there though because at one point I was tired and wanted to stop. I had 2 other irongirls in my lane that kept me going. It was really nice. My arms are whipped as usual. I am pleasantly sleepy. I think it might be time to head to bed!! Goodnight all!!
Blog on friends!!

It's been awhile...

since I have blogged that is. Sorry about that!! I have been busy!!
Monday I ran with runnersusan. We did a recovery run for her and a long run for me. We did 8 miles. It was tough, but not bad. I was moving at a snails pace!! (14:13's). I finished and that is all that matters.
Tuesday I rode the spin cycle at the Y for 45 minutes. Boring. I have to learn what 90-100RPM's feels like.
Wednesday I ran trails with runnersusan. I have never done that before. It was pretty tough. I liked it. The key to trail running is to keep your eyes on the trail. I fell because I saw a bunny and was watching it. Just as soon as I looked at it, I was on the ground. Oops. I laughed. I am always falling down. Hmmm. I was supposed to test in the afternoon but due to an uncooperative van, I got the day off. Yippee!! I decided to go for a swim. Here was my workout:
1 x 200 warm up
1x 100
1 x 200
1x 300
1 x 400
2 x 50 kicking
1 x 200 cool down
I was whipped after that.
I still needed to get a ride in so hotty hubby and I went for a ride. We rode on some local trails (about 10-12miles). The bugs and gnats were terrible. I was wondering what the RDA is for gnat protein? Gross!! We made it back home and I was asleep faster than you could say goodnight.
This morning runnersusan and I went for another short run (3miles--11:57's). It was cooler but my goodness the humidity was almost unbearable. It was nice to get it over with. Tonight is another swim with the group. I am rested up and ready to go!!
My hips and hams are sore. (Just a note for myself).

Playing Catch up!!

Okay, so I had a very eventful and uneventful weekend. Let's start off with Saturday. I rode in the CrossTimbers Classic. I know, all of you local cyclists will snub this ride, but let me tell you all, it was a big deal to me!! I trained hard for this ride. I trained my friend PM for a whole year for that ride. We did it. We made it all the way through the 30miles. I don't have any idea how long it took us or what our average speed was and to be honest, I don't really care. I care about that the fact that PM finished pain free when one year ago she could hardly walk. I could not be more proud of her. That was her marathon!! I am so happy for her. Kevin also rode with us. Yay, Kev!! He totally out rode the two of us.

The thing about rallies or tours or whatever they are is that they are so completely different than a race. Like any runner would be I was baffled by the fact that the rest stops are really social breaks. They were points along the way where you get off your bike, have a snack and revel at the fact that you have made it this far. I understand, it may not be this way in a "race", nonetheless I found it fascinating. I also found it intresting that there were no mile markers, no cheering squads, and a less than motivating sign at the end to let you know that you crossed the finish line, sort of, I think. We passed a sign that said finish, but were we done at the sign or further up where people were sitting and having more snacks? And how long did it take us--no clock. I was left feeling such a wonderful sense of accomplishment and no one but my dear hubby and training friend to celebrate with. Hum...kinda let down. Are they all this way??

Anywho. Sunday morning right away was met with a severely grumpy stomach. Oh my gosh, what is going on? Oh yeah I had salad the night before. Oops. I met the group at White Rock lake to run 4. 5miles. I made it through the first 3 miles before... what the heck is going on with my stomach? I suddenly had this, must find a potty feeling, coming over me. I had Nikko with me and what do you do with your dog when you are in a Johnny on the spot puking your guts out?? Let's say this...I walked back to the car, but no before stopping a few more times along the way. Hey Susan, I now understand what you were going through all those times with an upset stomach for so many miles. How did you do it?? I managed to get to the car and get home. I started to feel a bit better so I had a PB and J sandwich on spelt. I showered and then holy cow, my stomach again!! This can't be happening, I was having such a good weekend!! In the end, I spent most of Sunday in and out of the bathroom and most of Monday asleep trying to make up for what I lost on Sunday. I lost 6 pounds. Gross!! All I had to do was feel better and lookey there I found my 6 pounds!! I am feeling better, but I still did not workout today. I had a busy day of testing and training. I chose to sleep in, just to make sure the stomach bug was gone~wink wink. I was just lazy. Tomorrow is full day of playing catch up!! Good luck with that my hotty hubby says.

250!!

I started today off with a nice and sleepy lifting session with Massoman. Let me first say, I was not paying attention to what I was doing and ended up lifting heavier than I meant to. It was nice to see some progress. I benched 65lbs for 3x17!! WOW!!! I didn't think I could lift that much. Cool!! Thanks Massoman for lifting with me!!
This evening I met the fit2train group for my first open water swim clinic. There were only 3 Irongirls and 3 coaches there. It was like I was getting private lessons. Cool!! I put on a wet suit for the first time. I was shocked that I could wear a medium. I don't think I have ever worn a medium anything, ever....hahaha!! Anywho, then we got in the water and swam back and forth between 2 coaches and the 3rd was in a kayak just in case we needed help. The coaches were about 25m apart. I found myself fighting the need to just breathe shallow and finally gave in and just started breathing hard under water. I also had to get over the fact that one I could not see underwater and two I could not tell if I was going straight or not. Once I calmed down a bit I was able to see where I was going and get my breathing under control. BTW, my arms totally crapped out. Hum, could that be because I blew them out this morning?? Oops. When all was said and done we completed like 250m or so says the coach. We weren't officially keeping track but she guestimated. I had a great time!!
What are the distances for an Olympic distance tri?

Ho hum!!

I went for a run with Massoman this morning. We ran 3 miles. I felt great, but winded near the end. We walked I think for a minute or 2, then ran in at 31:33. Not so shabby. In my sleepy fog I could not find my MP3 player so I ran sans music. Richard and I just talked and talked. It was nice. I miss the social aspect of our early morning runs. I am definitely glad to be back.
This evening Hotty Hubby and I went for a short and easy bike ride (about 10.5miles). We actually rode on a new highway that is not quite open yet.It was so cool to zoom by the traffic. We saw a couple of other cyclists playing on the new roadway too. Anywho, the jury is still out on the distance for the tri (olympic or sprint). Originally it was a sprint, but I have a conflict with that weekend. So I am in the market for another one. Which ever distance. I am quickly realizing my condition. I am really good condition. I am so shocked by this because I feel like such a slug sometimes. Is this normal??

Well I cannot believe that I am not more sore than I am. Actually, I am not sore at all!!! Well, my knee is still a bit sore but that is to be expected. I taught kickboxing this evening and felt great!! It is amazing that as in shape as I am that is still really hard!! I get winded and my legs get quivery and my lungs burn!! I can't get enough of that feeling!! I love it!! I do, I do, I do!!! Heehee!!
I can't wait to run some more!! I will run with my mini group. I hear we are running 3 miles!! I can't wait!!

5, 35, and then a whole lotta food!!

I began mother's day with a 5 mile run with the Pacers. I quickly realized that I have so much work to do!! I kept up with the group for a short bit and then my foot started hurting. I decided to walk a bit then catch up. The only problem was that the group sped up. I tried to catch up then got discouraged. So I walked some more. Hummm. Oh well. I did not run as well as I had planned, but you know...that was my first 5 mile run in 6 weeks (over really). After the run I met my friend PM for a ride. I was hoping only for about 20miles. We some how got off track and started following the wrong guides. Ooops!! I was feeling great until around 19 or so. I was tired and my legs were jelloey. (Yes, in my little world that is a word). We got so far off track that I needed to stop at a gas station to refil my water and grab a Clif Bar. Umm, that was at mile 25. OMG!!! I was tired and ready to quit. We got back onto our bikes and rode down one of the busiest backroads in FM. Of course if we had not gotten off track, we would not have had to travel down it. Long story short it was the shortest and fastest way back to the Jeep. At somepoint I got ahead of PM and she stopped. I heard from a distance her hollering at me. I turned around and thought I was coming to a stop and fell off of my bike. It wasn't on the busy street thank goodness--I'd be dead. I did however end up with a bloody knee. It is a bit sore but fine. hahaha!! When we finished I was so glad to see the Jeep!! When I got home I had my hotty hubby take a pic of my longest day on the bike. I have never been that far all at one time!! Wow!! I have some seriously dead legs and one skinned knee!!
After my long ride we, hotty hubby and I, took his parents to the Taste Addison celebration! I at Mahi Mahi tacos. I picked the good stuff out of the middle. They were yummy!! This is a pic of hotty hubby's parents!! They had a great time at the celebration!! We were listening to blues music from a local band!!

Wheww, I am tired!!

Last night I met with the Fit2Train group. A bunch of TI ers and some of us other folks. We ran 3 miles and then sat around at a picnic. I chose not eat, I am not a member yet and I feel weird about eating their food. I know, strange, but who cares. I met a few other women which are called Irongirls. I actually like that label and may steal it for myself. I am an irongirl, sort of.
RunnerSusan and I were supposed to meet for a ride this morning. We didn't. She spent the day with Kenza at school. Oh well. I really needed the sleep. I was and still am exhausted. I slept like a log. I did not even hear my hotty hubby come in last night after band. Humm.
Today I rode 16.5 miles, averaging 12.7mph. I did not eat enough, and I am still tired. I wanted to go longer, but mentally couldn't hack it. So I took a rest half way through at the lake and then rode back. It did not go as well as I had hoped but I did it.
I think it will take some time to get used to all of the training a triathalon requires. Only one week of it, minus the swimming and I am pooped!! Ha!! Oh well.

**I am training for several things right now. I want to do a triathalon this summer, and the New Mexico Marathon on Labor Day weekend.

Gotta Go eat!!! Yum!!

Ahhem:

I begin with a wonderful quote:
"Running is a big question mark that's there each and everyday. It asks you, 'Are you gonna be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?" --Peter Maher

My question mark is answered by say I am strong today. I will not be a wimp!! Hahaha!! I need to play a bit of catch up for a moment. Please forgive me I have been pretty busy changing lives (haha--training clients!!).

Tuesday evening I ran 4 miles in 46:04. Ugg. It was incredibly hot (80 something with humidity levels around 80%--Heat index of around 100 degrees). I saw this amazing thunderhead. It looked like a mushroom, but with lightening bolts lighting it up. Clear blue skies and this one big cloud. The sunset accented it really well. It was like a big strobe light. Unfortunately, it's warpath included a tornado that killed a few people. It was really neat though.

Wednesday was a very very full training day. I trained a record breaking 7 clients. I have not trained that many people in several years. I was whipped!! The Y is also refinishing the floor in our new "multipurpose room" so the whole fitness center smells really bad. I thought I was getting used to it, but maybe not. I left with the worst headache yet, since they have been remodeling. I love the changes, but geeze it is wreaking havok on my sense of smell. Nonetheless, no exercise. I went to bed really early. I almost did not make it through the end of Lost. Anyone else addicted??? What a twist last night. And I digress.

This morning I ran with Susan, Richard and his BW. BW and I ran 3 miles. I finished in 31:09 (10:24's). Not so bad. I felt great. As I was finishing I decided to push the pace a bit. I noticed that I was not running a quickly as I could have. (Garmin's are the best--her name is G mini). My G mini has changed the way I run. She is the basic Forerunner 101, but I am a woman of simplicity. Anywho, my legs were a little quivery at the very end. I did recover very quickly, which makes me think I could have pushed the distance a bit more too. I am ready, but want to be intelligent about it. I have already added a mile onto Tuesdays run. And I am meeting with a new group tonight. I thing I am going to join a training group called Fit2Train. They are a triathalon group. We will do a group run at White Rock then have a picnic. I invited my hotty hubby, but he is playing music. And oh yeah, he doesn't run. Sure wish he would, but whatever. He is riding the CrossTimbers Classic with PM and I. Yay!!! Something together!! Heeheee!! I am smiling all over!! After running this morning, I met BC for Bootcamp. It was a gentle class today, she is having low back issue. My arms are a bit tired. I don't think I will be sore.

On tap for the rest of the day. I am going for a short ride this morning and then I am riding to work (all in all around 25-30 miles--oh I guess that is not really short). I have some tests to run then a ride home. I will meet the Fit2Train group this evening. After all of that I think I might rest!!

Friday morning Susan and I are meeting for a ride. Yay!!

So I will continue my day and not be a wimp. I am a strong runner and athlete. Heehee!!

Happy Monday!!

Ahhhh, back to a semi normal week!! Richard and I lifted this morning. I had a few clients, ran a test, and training a few more clients, and taught a kickboxing class. I love it!!! I am achey and tired, and happy!!
BTW, the vegetarian diet has been going really well. I had trouble tonight. My family ate a Dickey's (a BBQ place). The veggies are wilted and dead!! Sad really. I am putting forth great effort however. It is definitely hard to do!! I will conquer it.

Susan, I just saw you comment. I am sorry. I want to run sometime soon!! I want to chat with you about Feet in Motion.

Gotta go!!! Blog on friends!!

What a fantabulous fitness day!!

This evening I met with my walking friend JM. She is training for the 3 day walk in October. Today we walked 6.15miles (16:54min/mile). Woohoo!! She had never walked that far before. We talked about what to wear or not wear in the Texas heat. Hahaha!! She wore pants today and got very hot. She made it though, humidity and all. It was a great walk. After walking, I kept to my goal of 3 miles. I completed it on the dreadmill in 30:15. Not so shabby!!! I burned roughly 389+774cal=1163cal. today.

I am well on my way to a vegetarian style diet. I am cutting out chicken if I can. I am trying because I think I was having a weird reaction to the chemicals in the chicken Kevin and I bought last week. Yuck!! I have been chicken free for about a week, and I am feeling better. My current protein sources include soy protein, rice protein, beans, and fish. We will see how that goes!! I will keep at it.

It is late and I want sleep!!! Perhaps I will get some good rest before the storms roll in.

More postings?? Sure why not!!

We have a decision: September 4th (New Mexico Marathon over Labor Day weekend!!). I am so glad to be back!! I need to run today and ride. A 3 mile run on taps and 13 miles on the bike (maybe more, although I am a bit sluggish today). Thanks for all of the support!! You guys are wonderful friends to me!! Susan, I may not be ready for a bit longer. I am only running 3 miles at a time. However, I was most impressed that I averaged 10:14's after 6 weeks of absolutely no running!! I may catch back up with you in no time after all! Hahaha!!

Volleyball is finally over!!

I celebrated my first day of no volleyball with a 13 mile ride and a 3 mile run!! I am slowly but surely feeling more like myself. I have no more practices, tournaments, or rediculious 16 year olds lying to me anymore!! Wooohooo!! Susan, you marathon is coming up right??? I know you will do great!! Also, Buckeye runner, good luck!! It has been awhile since I last blogged. Sorry for the delay!! Here is the calander so far:

September 4th--Full Marathon--New Mexico
September 23rd--Full Marathon--Utah (I am not sure which one I am going to do yet!)

So there it is!! Full of potential!! I am excited to start training. Well must go!!

It's good to be queen!!

Hahaha, thanks friend. I am back and counting down how many days I have left of volleyball!! Did I mention before that I only have 2 practices and 2 tournaments left??? Holy moley, could it be??? Yep!! Today was bootcamp and a walk with my friend J. I hope she can handle the heat??!!! 101??!! REDICULIOUS!! For heaven's sake, it is only April 18th!! I hope this is not an indication of what summer holds. Anywho, Kev and I are going to look through at a calander and choose some rallies, duathalons, marathons, and what do my eyes behold; a possible triathalon?? I know I have always said, even to my dear friend runnersusan that I don't have any interest in triathaloning, but after 6 weeks of no running my eyes have opened to something other than running. I will post a calander soon. We actually have to find time to sit together and choose them. Time is the key issue here. My summer/fall calander will be very full!!

A weekend of no volleyball? What??

You got it. I actually had a weekend with no volleyball. No practices, no tournaments. Yippeeee!! I slept in and napped and did my own thing with out being responible for anyone else. It was great!! I rode to the Y on Saturday (7miles) and trained a couple of clients. After that, Kevin and PM met me for a longer bike ride. It was wonderful. It was green and fresh and warm, did I mention it was wonderful?? We rode 18 miles, and I topped the day off with 25miles. It was good. My legs were tired for the first time in weeks. Speaking of weeks, I am giving myself two more weeks for my foot to heal before running on it again. Also, volleyball will be over in 2 weeks. Oh my goodness, could it be??? You better believe it; only 2 more practices and 2 more tournaments. I can't believe it!! Any whoo, I must go to bed I am tired from a long hot day here in Tejas.

PS: Congrats all of you Boston runners!! I couldn't be more excited for you all!!

A couple of days off and I am good as new!!

I have rested for 2 days. Actually just one, but it was worth it. Tuesday morning was buttcamp with B and then tons of work!! I sat in traffic for 2 hours to get home last night and went to bed right away. Today I slept in. I am very sore and not as tired, but did I mention that I am sore?? OH MY GOODNESS, what a work out on Monday morning. Could it be another waste of a million dollars on another Mission Impossible??? Sorry, I am a bit AD/HD tonight. Tooo much rest. Hahaha. I must go now!!

What a long day!!

Today I started with a killer lifting session with Massoman. I jammed my training schedule right into my testing schedule. I got stuck in traffic and was nearly late for testing. I then decided last minute that I would go for a bike ride. I know, real cyclists don't say "bike ride". Anyway I rode 18 miles this afternoon. It was warm and a bit windy. Is it always like this on a bike??? Hahaha!! My hiney is sore from the seat. Will this ever go away?? Just wondering. It was a great ride. I am looking forward to another one soon. Not sure when though, I am a bit busy this weekend. I should find time since gas prices are high. Oh well, gotta jet.

Everybody all at once please....awwww how cute!!

These were from my youngest sis's wedding at the beginning of March. This is my sexy hubby!! Heehee!! In all fairness, this is not an accurate view of him. He would never ordinarily wear a black wool cowboy hat and ropers. Only for my sister would he do such a thing!! Hahhaaa!!

These are my parents!! My dad was soo happy!!!
Here are the "Curry" girls although we don't look like girls anymore. We were always called that growing up. For those that don't know, I am on the left my youngest sis (Amity) is in the middle and my middle sis (Jen) is on the right. Jen is getting married in September!! What a whirlwind of a year!!

Yay!! I am back!! Sort of...

Well I am feeling no need to limp around anymore. I am still aware of my left foot (plantar faciatis=PF), but I am not really protecting it anymore. I have been not really resting. I switched to cycling for a bit and believe it or not I like it. If it weren't for the crappy traffic around here I'd ride more often. I have done tons of cardio work, lifted a bit and tons of walking. I have a friend who is training for the 3 day Breast Cancer walk. We have been walking during the week when we can!! I couldn't be more excited for her!! Way to go J!!! I have dabbled with running a mile or two on the dreadmill with no major effect on the foot. I also for the first time in weeks on Wednesday played a bit of volleyball. I was cautious when I jumped and only felt my foot hurt once or twice. I listened and quit jumping. My weight has maintained and I am about ready to start running again. I want to ease back into it slowly and intelligently. I will do it. I have less than 3 weeks of volleyball left. Could it come any sooner?? Anyone out there know how to speed time up??? Only my dear friend Richard has figured me out on this one, I think. I seem totally run down and beat up by all of this maddness but in my own little reality I can't get enough of it. I start EVERY club season fired up and then by the end I am counting down the days until it is over!! Coaching is one of those things that I can't really imagine my life without, but at the very same time I question whether I am cut out for it. It is the strangest love hate relationship I have ever had!! Heehee!! Maybe that is why I am totally passionate about it.
Onward:
J this is for you!!
I loved this snack back when I could eat wheat:
Whole wheat pita pockets
splenda, cinnamon and spray butter
Cut up the pitas like a pizza and pull the pockets apart so they look like tortilla chips
spray the butter on them sprinkle with splena and cinnamon and bake until crispy
I think the serving size is like 4-6 triangles
This makes a great substitution for Cinnamon Chips from Taco Bueno.
Also, the spin class is at 1:30 and Barb is the instructor. I think you should try it anyway despite what I said earlier!! Go for it girl you will love it!!

I am feeling better today. I am still hobbling around, trying really hard no to, but it hurts!! This is the crappiest injury I have ever had. It just hangs around. Oh well. I miss my friends already. It will be a long month not getting to run with them, or run at all. Hmm. Lifting was good this morning. I desperately need to design a new program for us to do. Bootcamp tomorrow and cardio, cardio, cardio!! Kevin and I are planning a trip to Jamaica. Oh my gosh I want to be really lean!! I mean really lean!! I will do it!! I must go for now!!

Grumpy, injured, and way too tired!!

Well, let's see...I managed to flare up my PF so badly that on Tuesday I was walking on crutches!! That was short lived, by Wednesday my left foot had swelled up so big, it was blue but I mangaged to hobble my happy butt around the gym and to work. I did track work on Tuesday morning with the Striders and my friend Richard. I told myself anything less that 4 x 800 would just be shamefull. So on my last one about 500m into it I felt a shearing pain in my left foot. It felt like I had just ran over a steak knife. It slowly got worse through out the day!! I tried to cancel on my clients but everyone was already at the Y so I had my sis bring me her crutches from a previous injury and hobbled to the Y. I went later to watch my sexy hubby win runner up in a guitar contest. He played the Blues; my personal fave!! He gets to move on to the 2nd round where he will compete again. If he finishes at the top (not sure if it is top 2 or 1) he will get to go to Houston to compete. And LA after that (if he continues to finish at the top). He was so nervous, but I knew he could do it! He is soo good at playing the guitar. He should ditch the band more often in my opinion. But hey what do I know right?? I am just the trophy wife! Heeeheee!! Later!!

I am so glad my sis's wedding is over with!! Talk about stress!! Yesterday I lifted with Richard. This morning was Buttcamp with B!! Umm, I am absolutely aware of my butt!! hahaha!! I came home and did a short and super speedy 2 mile tempo (17:54). My friend JM and I went for a 3 mile walk and stretch/core session!! It was so nice outside. I am not ready for the heat though!! It is inevitable!! Oh well. I will post some super cute pics from the wedding tomorrow!!

I miss everyone!!

I miss those days and evenings when I could just read everyones' blogs!! Oh well, I send all my love to you all!!!
I had this crazy dream. I dreamt that I woke up at 4:30am to tell my friend that I would not be running with him, and instead I would sleep in. And the next day I dreamt that I just didn't show up!! This whole week has felt like a dream!! My youngest sis is getting married on Saturday and so far my week has gone something like this:
Monday--Lifted with Richard, ran 4.7 miles on my own, trained 3 clients, ran 3 tests, trained three more clients, went home kissed hubby goodnight
Tuesday--slept in (oops!!) Ran 3.8 miles, ran 2 tests, trained 1 client, went to volleyball practice for the young ones
Wednesday--no showed my friend, instead ran on my own with Nikko 4.5 miles trained 1 client, ran 1 test, had my bridesmaid dress fitted, trained 2 more clients--never saw hubby before I went to bed!!
***I actually found out that in order for my dress to be altered in time, I would have to buy fake boobs!! Hahahaha!! Apparently I am so small that the tailor would have to take in 3.5 inches in the chest alone!! Because of the way the dress is made she would have needed to taken it apart competely to make the top fit!! Talk about an embarrassing moment!!
Thursday--After buying fake boobs, I picked up my dress, no clients tonight and volleyball practice.
I can only imagine what the rest of the weekend will hold!! I know it will be crazy busy but I know I can handle it. I am going to round out my week with a 5 mile run with the Plano group. It should be hard and painful since I played volleyball tonigt and my food is hurting. I am icing now as I speak!! Hahaha!!
I miss everyone!!
I will have great pics to post later from the wedding!! I should be great!!

This past weekend I went to Shreveport for a volleyball tournament!! We actually did pretty well!! We finished 4th. Yay!!This is my team!! We were having team dinner, hahaha. They are such dorks! Heehee!! My sister and I went to gamble a bit. She lost $11.00 and I won $256!! Wooohooo!! We had a great time! I lifted this morning with Richard. We had a great workout!! Thanks, friend!! I came home and ran 4.7 miles in 50 minutes!! I plan to get a 30 minute session on the XTrainer in between client tonight! I am going to workout a lot this week, I feel a ton of stress coming on!!

This morning Richard and I met at our usual time to go for a run through a storybook. I love running in fog. It makes everything look surreal!! We ran 6!! Yay, I actually ran what I set out to run!! My foot is a bit sore today. I have been off of Relafen for about 2 weeks, but I think I might want to go back on it for a couple of days until the pain goes away. I finished the 6 in 1:05:23. Not bad considering I walked a mile of it!! I know I can do better. Hopefully I can run in the morning tomorrow and beat that time. I would love to push my base mileage to 6 miles. I know I can I just have to rest and fuel appropriately. I have been eating better, just not great.
Kevin is home sick today and I am trying to keep my distance, but he wants me to stay home with him. No offense guys, but man you are all sooooo needy when you are sick. Oh well, time to make some Chicken Noodle Soup!!

Burr it's cold outside!!

Good morning fellow bloggers. I am taking a lesson in humility this morning. I am "playing" secretary today for my small company. Since we are so small, only 5 of us, when someone wants to take the day off the others fill in as much as possible. Now I have "played" secretary before, but it was not this busy. I have a list about a mile long of things to get done. I am thinking to myself, it was not this busy last time what's the deal?? I am becoming more appreciative of what the regular person does. I am used to a lifestyle of coming and going freely, answering my cell phone, hanging out with my dog at home, training a few clients here and there, running the occasional test, working out, and oh yeah never, never having to sit at a desk. This will be torture!! With some help of the internet world, some CD's, and a good book (if I get to slow down and read it) I should be able to make until 5pm. Yikes, it is only 9:30, that is so far away.
I did not run this morning. I called Richard last night and told him I would be insane to go run with the winds gusting around 25 miles and hour and the temp dipping down near 20 degrees. I don't mind the cold, it is the wind that is killing me this week. I am afraid it will stick around until Spring. I will wish then that we had some wind to keep it from feeling so hot. Oh well, the grass is always greener on the other side right? My friend B told me this morning that it sounded like I was not used to running so many days in a row and that is why I am tired. I know she is right but my gut reaction is "whatever, that isn't true". Thanks, B for the reality check!! See I am getting humbled all over the place today! Hahaha!! I am really tired though. I feel as though I could sleep for days and days!! I should really consider slowing down a bit!! I must get back to playing secretary!!

Choose your day!!

This morning I have chosen to have a great day!! So far it has not been that great, but I am choosing to make it great!! I did not feel like running this morning. I got up and drove to our meeting place anyway. I pressed on for about 2 miles then quit. My body said no. I ignored it and tried to go on, it said NO again!! I finished out the 5 miles walking. I think I finished in something like 1 hour and 4 minutes. I am tired. My left foot is really sore today, and my hips are wound so tight it is hard to move, but I could complain for days! I figure I ran hard for 2 days in a row, so I can go easy today!! No big deal. I know tomorrow will be better!! So far I have made 13 of my 30 mile goal this week! I am on my way...uh sort of. Heehee!! I encourage y'all to grab onto every moment and make your move toward a great day!!! I will!!

What a great run!!

Richard and I met this morning for a short run. We talked about 3 or 4, ended up 3. We chatted and ran along in the heavy wind again. This time though it was not as hard to breathe. I wonder why that is?? The wind was the same as it was yesterday, yet today it was a bit easier to breathe. Oh well, nonetheless it was a totally awesome run!! We finished in 27:27!!! I think that might be a PR!! Wooohooo!!! I should look back on things, but no I am pretty sure it is!!! I am way fired up!!! Tomorrow morning I was going to lead Bootcamp but we have decided to not meet so I think I will give 7 miles a try in the morning!! I also think I have broken through my funk!! Yay!!! Anyway, I might try the Spring Fever ride in Sulphur springs. I can't decide 44 or 69 miles?? I found out the cycling:running mileage conversion in 3:1. So do I feel like pushing through about 15 miles or 23? The scenary should be pretty by then. Hum, who knows what I will do. I probably should do the 69 miles, if I am looking for a marathon replacement!! I will have think on this one!!

Yes, I am still alive

This morning we all met to run at least 5 miles maybe 6. Once we got started we quickly realized that the gail force head wind was going to be a tough battle to fight. Susan decided to turn around early. I figured since I got my lazy butt out of bed and drove 20 minutes to run, well I was going to run. Richard and I made it to the 5 mile turn around and I gave up. I went out to run 6 and turned to run 5. Oh well. I ran further than usual (I did not quit until mile 4). I only walked about a quarter mile and then took off from there. By then I was totally whipped. I haven't finished a run like that in a long time. I felt like I had a total body high intensity workout. My legs, abs, core, and upper body was sort of quivery. Weird. I was, uh am, exhausted. I finished in 53:23. Not bad for a gail force wind!!!! Richard, I hear did 7!! Wow!! Great job! You rock!! I intend on getting a bit further on Friday, or maybe tomorrow morning. Not sure yet!! We will see how tired I am and if there is a strong head wind!!

I can't believe it has been a couple of weeks!!

I can't believe it has been so long since I blogged. Same ol' excuse, I have been busy!!
I started my week of this morning with my regular Monday lifting session, only surprise, surprise my dear friend Richard worked out with me!! It was nice to have some company. I plan to run this afternoon or evening (not sure which). My goal 4-5 miles. I want to run 30 miles this week!! I will get it done. I think if I have something to focus on, my funk will go away!! I will put my efforts back into my running!! It is my 2nd love (aside from my loving husband of course!!).

No Buttcamp!!

This morning at about 4:30am I sat on my couch and called all of my buttcamp buddies and cancelled on them. I feel bad, but I needed the rest and my left foot is very painful!! It has been bothering me since just before Christmas, but today it feels worse. It is actually swollen and a bit difficult to walk. I think it is time for a solid day off from exercise. I am icing and taking anti-inflamitories and stretching. It should be significantly better tommorrow!! If it is like the other times my right foot has given me trouble. I might go for a bike ride (wait did I say that I should take a day off??).
I am running one test today on a cancer patient. I am bit nervous. This is a first. I have tested several very sick patients but none that are going through chemo while I test them. EEEKKK!! It should be fine. I am told it is not any different that testing a regular patient. We'll see!!

Still looking for info on the Shinerbash Century ride. And also some protein advice from yesterday's post.

Short Slow runs are fun too!!

Yesterday and today Susan and I met for 5 mile runs. We went into them thinking, yeah 50 minutes or so should be good, but 1 hour and 6 minutes later we were just glad to socialize and get the miles in. I am thankful to have my friend back. I miss Richard though, he decided to sleep instead of lifting. I got a good workout in though. I am attempting to detox and/or cleanse, but I am finding it very difficult. I am hungry and tired and craving sugar like I have craved it before. Also, I cheated already. How do you start something so motivated and just like that, oops I found myself eating hershey kisses. Only about 10 of them though. Oh well, I will just try to keep on track. Does any Nutrition buffs out there know the RDA for protein intake??? I always thought it was .5g-1g per KG of bodyweight?? Is this incorrect?? Dr. Voodoo wants me to get more in my diet, but I feel very differently. I am afraid that he is asking for too much protein. I am quite concerned on this. Also, he is reccommending a lower carb diet, but for some unknown reason I eat almost no carbs lately (I'm not counting carbs you get from fruits and veggies--I don't eat many potatoes or corn). My energy is flat and running slow. I think this might be due to low iron levels and lack of carbs in the diet. My friend D has been doing Manuel Lymph drainage on my legs and noticed a very distinct difference between my right and left legs. She told me this morning that she learned in her recert class over the weekend that sometimes if you have too much protein in your body, you are at risk for higher fat prolification (more fat storage around the problem lymph areas--ie my left leg). Huh, interesting. I am curious about this. I have just put it into writing to notate it more than anything. This week's goal is to continue to bring down my stress level and maintain everything (161lbs, 5 miles daily base mileage, and 3 days lifting). I am trying really hard. I will do it. I am fired up about the springtime like weather. It makes me want to be outside although I fear the heat that is inevitable. Oh well, I will enjoy the cooler days for now.

Ahhh, what a better week!!

As I am running and telling Garmina about my emotional funk we quickly hit the halfway point in our 5 mile run. It really felt great to run with someone again!! I have worked really hard this week on my mileage. This is the highest mileage week I have had since volleyball started!! I think I will hit 30!! Wooohooo!! Thank you Susan for running with me this morning!! I am really glad you didn't cancel, even if we did finish slower than goal. I don't mind, just getting out there was an accomplishment!! We finished in 56:53, slower than normal, but whatever. Given that we talked for 2.5 miles straight, I'd say that was a great pace. Those are 11:23's. Hum, we did it!! I was able to find that wonderful place when we were running this morning. It was so peaceful and there was no stress there!! Ahhh!! Maybe that is why I feel better!! After we ran, I sat in the parking lot and just meditated a bit. I watched the clouds go by and tried really hard to quiet my mind. It was wonderful!!
I want to ride in the Shinerbash Century Ride. Anyone out there know how to register for it??? Do I have to be a Team in Training participant??? I need help all you cyclists out there!! Anyone from Austin area that may want to share tips on this ride might be helpful as well!! And....what is the conversion from running to cycling?? I have heard different things....60 miles on a bike is the equivalent of a marathon, and/or 5 miles on a bike=1 mile of running??? Help, I want a new challenge and a bit of a change but am so incredibly novice on 2 wheels!! I know you guys can help!!
Also, anyone in the Dallas area know of a laid back, no hardcore cyclist yet please, groups to ride with?? I don't want to jump into hardcore yet, I am not ready. I need a group that is sensitive to beginners!! I want it to be fun, relaxed, and invigorating. I am not ready for cut throat racing.

Catch up!!

Yesterday I went solo for a 5.1 mile run. I finished in 55 minutes (10:47's). Sad, slow, but I got it done. The new course I have been doing is hilly!! I don't think I will run it over the summer or when it gets hot. There is no shade and quite a bit of traffic. I want to keep at it and break 50 minutes next time I run it. It was a nice run though. I felt pretty good, my legs burned from the hills.

This morning I went to Buttcamp with B. We are still plogging along with this format. My right knee right under the kneecap is a bit wanky this morning. I am not sure what is up with that. Weather change?? My left plantar fascia is really sore too, maybe from the jumping at volleyball? We did not do any plyo's in Buttcamp this morning. I went for lower impact cardio intervals. Since Massoman has been opting out on Monday lift days, I need the Bootcamp days just to get my lifting in. Kudos to those who are motivated to go to the gym witht the intent to lift. I get distracted and unmotivated. Odd, but true. It is only odd because it is not like my personality to be unmotivated in a gym. I like to lift with friends, it is more fun.

I am seeing Dr. Voodoo today. I think I have gotten my diet back in order. I just want to check in and make sure I am still on track. I need that accountability right now since things are so hectic. I also need an iron supplement. I am low. I can feel it and see it. I am pale, fatigued (more than I think I should be despite everything I am doing!!), and I wear out fast during my workouts. Ding, Ding, Ding, I am iron deficient!!! Hahaha, at least I can make a joke of my health.

I am off to have a great day of rest (no tests, no clients and I am playing hookie from volleyball so my husband and I can celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary!!). I want to chase that 50 minute 5.1 mile loop and go for a bike ride! Then I think I will be like a cat and just lay around!! It sounds so wonderful!! Have a great day everyone!!!

I am so glad the weekend is over!!

Is this normal?? To be glad that the week is starting? Oh well, my weekend was filled with more stress. I think I might implode with all of this going on. I did not get to run this morning, it rained pretty hard. Richard called and cancelled. I slept in. We all, runnersusan, massoman and myself planned to run tomorrow morning and wouldn't you know it, my Jeep battery is dying AGAIN!! I did not park it in the garage last night and this morning I got stranded at Blockbuster. I hitched a ride with my sis to practice and Kevin has been working on all evening. He can't quite figure it out. So I am going to the Y bymyself to run on the treadmill, wait for a client, lift, wait for a few clients more, ride my bike to the office, test 2 patients, ride back to the Y, train a couple more clients then have Kevin pick me up. I can't handle all of this!! I must slow down, some how, some way!! I will do it. I have kept to my boundries for volleyball, I guess I need more to stay grounded. I am going insane because I am so busy!! I will get over it, I need to get over it. Things will get better!!

By the way, did I mention that it rained today??? Yay!! Richard and Susan, I miss you both dearly!! I am sad that I am not training with you guys as much!! I hope to get back to it soon!!

Could I eat anymore food???

I am so with you Susan, I too have gone off the deep end nutritionally too!! I am stressed to the max, and I have not eaten very well. I know that is not helping my stress, it only contributes to it.
I was just reading Boingo's blog (I think that's it) and saw his invitation to the Boston Marathon. I must admit, I felt the slightest twinge of jealousy. I say that and then stress some more because I have only run like 5 miles this week, and I have eaten enough food to feed an army!! Oh well, this too will pass. I am sure of this!! Congrats Boingo!!!

Maybe I will get some running in tomorrow morning??? I have as always a jam packed day!! It is full of Bowling with my middle sis, then getting ready for a bridal shower I have planned for my youngest sis. We have not been getting along very well lately. There are just some things that she doesn't get. We have the party in the evening and I have planned a somewhat healthy menu. We will just see how it goes!!
It is time to watch the Wedding Crashers with my hotty hubby who thinks I work too much!! hahaha, he might have a point.

Heck Yeah I can run fast!!!

Today I went to the track for speed work. My goal was to do a minimum of 4 x 800's. I ended up doing 4 x 800, with 5 x 400 in between. The 400's were active recovery, so I just didn't go fast. They were more like speed walking, but hey what's the difference? My legs would not let me do those as fast. My 800 times were: 3:48, 3:56, 3:46, and 3:58. Wow!!! That was fast!! I hope next week I can do 6 x800 and maintain those times!! Tomorrow is bootcamp and a bike ride. I am not sure how far, it will be beautiful out so I plan to take full advantage.

SPD clips? Shoes?

Which one is it? Anyway, Clif they are SPD. I have gotten pretty good at getting my foot off of the clips. I went today to ride 10 miles or so with my friend who would otherwise like to be known as the AARP eligible friend. We were followed around by a couple of teenagers in a yellow Jeep Wrangler. It was actually quite funny!! Hahahaha!! We joked sometime between the 2nd and 3rd time we saw them that they just thought we were hot!! Hahaha!! It was a great ride anyway. No running today, just training and cycling. Tomorrow will be buttcamp and maybe some running!!

Running Slow!!

This morning I snoozed right through to 5:20!! I was supposed to meet Susan and Richard to run a 10 mile loop. I called Susan and told her not to wait for me, that I would not make it in time!! Richard goes to church on Sundays and I did not want him to be late. I know that is important to him. So I slept in and then went out on my own. I did a slow 7 mile run (11 minute) pace. My body feels weak. I can tell that I have not been running as I should be. I have a plan to get better at this.
I will turn my phone off at 9:30 or 10:00. I will not accept any calls after that time. I will do my very best at getting to bed on time. I will leave Thursday night practices early--I don't need to hang out with the other coaches. I am actually going to try to move Thursday practices to 7:30 instead of 8:00. 30 minutes will make a difference I am sure!!
Oh well, I got my run in even if it was slow!! My course was hilly and windy!! I will do better next weekend!!

I love Volleyball!!

There is nothing like lighting the fire under my already ferocious competitve spirit like volleyball season!! Today we played in a tournament and did not play as well as we did last weekend!! (my 16's). This team is harder to coach than the 14's last year were. Is it because they already know how to do everything? I am merely a cheerleader who is just lucky enough to stand on the sidelines!! Hahaha!! I know that is not how they see me, but it sure feels that way sometimes!! I realized today that I may not be hard enough on the girls. I am not "direct" enough with them. I am not sure I know how to be harder with out being mean or downright yelling at them. I like to save that for when I really need it. I don't need it everytime the ball goes down. Coaching is my passion for those who don't know. I love to coach. It is hard, frustrating as heck, and I love it. From Thanksgiving until May 1st, I am consumed with what to do next, how to do it better, and if we are improving our skills. My sister has the team I took to nationals last year and they are very good. My 16's I don't think are as good. Right now, my sister is more successful as a coach than I am and I CANNOT STAND THAT!! Don't get me wrong, I love my sister, she is my best friend, but my competitiveness does not want her to be more successful than me!! Now, I realize that I made her team what they are now last year, but still I hate being outed!!!! Oh well, I am hoping that won't last long!! Last weekend my team finished 12th out of 34. This weekend so fare will not finish in the top half of everyone else!! We will finish in the bottom 20 or so. I am hoping somewhere around 20, but we will not finish better than than that due to the fact that we lost today so many times. I am done venting now!!

Tomorrow morning I am finally getting to run again!! I am meeting runner susan and massoman for a 10 mile jaunt. I am fired up about that!! Maybe I can run some of my competitiveness out and get focused for bracket play in the afternoon!!!

I have a friend that gave me a TNT pamphlet and told me I should train for the century ride somewhere!! I passed it off as a joke at first seeing as how I am terrified of falling because I am not very good at getting my shoes off the pedals (I have clippless pedals), but now I am actually thinking about it. I may make her go to an info meeting with me!! Haha. I am afraid I don't have time to fundraise for it. It would be fun to try something new!!! I love running though. I will always be a runner!!

I have got to go to bed if I am going to be of any use tomorrow!!

Where have I been??

Oh my goodness, has it been 8 days since I blogged??? I guess so!! I have just spent the longest weekend in OKC at volleyball tournament!!! I am tired!! I ran 12 last Wednesday, 5 on Friday and nothing over the weekend!! Wow!! I rested today and will start with Buttcamp in the morning. I also plan to run 3-5 miles. Wednesday WILL be track day, Thursday will be Bootcamp again and a short run, Friday will be another run 5-6 miles, depending how much sleep I get on Thursday night!! Oh well, let another hectic week begin!!

New Year's Eve Pics

All of us at the comdedy club!! Me, Kevin, Jesse, Jon and Jen.
I found these just sitting on a drum set so I thought it would be really funny to make Jen wear them!! Doesn't she look funny??
Kevin and I before the show!!

Jen and Jon before the show. Jon was being particularly honory, (is that how you spell that?) and did not want to cooperate for the pics!! He kept making these silly faces. This was the best pic!!

Happy New Year!!

I am so sluggish today!! Yesterday I went for a 9 mile run (1:37--10:47's) and then met a friend and rode like 18 miles on our bikes! I had a great time, but my legs and body is so tired. My calves are sore, but that is about it. Everything else is just stiff. It will get better!!
We rang in the New Year last night at a comedy club. We had such a great time!!
The majority of today has spent on sleeping. We got in around 2:00am, add that with muscle fatigue and you get a lot of sleep!! Hahaha!!
I have been thinking very seriously about my New Year's Resolutions. Actually, I would prefer to not call them resolutions. I will think of them as goals for 2006. I can keep goals, but resolutions, I am not sure I can keep!! Haha!! So here they are.
In 2006 I would:
like to run 3 marathons (starting with Surfside on 2/11)
move closer to becoming vegetarian (I have quite a way to)
to get recertified for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
to get CPFT certified (Certified Pulmonary Function Technician)
go on a tropical vacation

So this seems like a lot, but I think I can do it!! The marathon in Feb will be tough to get ready for, but I think if I push hard enough and stay injury free, I can do it. I can't help but be excited for the future. There are so many wonderful things to look forward to.
